What to Expect
Everyone is welcome at Newton Falls Church of the Nazarene. Whether you are simply seeking what it means to know about God, or are looking for a new church home, you are welcome here.
People often ask, What should I wear to church? Don't worry, we have many who wear casual attire and we have some who like to dress up a bit to come to church, so whatever your dress you will be accepted and will not feel alone whether you are in jeans, a dress or tie and shirt. Come and be comfortable. We are about worshiping God, not worrying about how we look! Pastor will often be in casual attire; jeans and a collared shirt.
Our worship services are every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
If you have children you will be able to bring them with you to the worship service, or they can join Children's Church. During every worship service we have nursery facilities available, staffed with qualified workers who all have had a background check and went through our NazSafe training.
Please, come into the sanctuary and make yourself at home. Our services usually begin with a time of music in which people may stand or choose to sit. We use words projected on our screen. Our music is a blend of traditional and contemporary. There is a mix every Sunday. If you know the songs, sing along, if not—don't worry about it and just relax and enjoy the experience.
Sometime before or after the service you will be asked to fill out a welcome card by our greeter. This is so we can contact you later to follow up and provide you with more information about the church. If you do not feel comfortable filling out the welcome card that is okay; however we assure you this is only for pastor or someone from the church to answer any questions you might have. We are a family oriented church and are excited about getting to know you better.
During most services we will have a time of offering. This is when those who are regular attenders give their tithes and offerings as a part of their worship to God, and to help support the ministries of the church. Visitors are welcome to participate, but are certainly not expected to do so.
The pastor will usually preach a sermon. This is a teaching lesson, taking scripture verses from the Bible and applying them to our own lives. If you have a Bible, you are welcome to bring it with you. A lot of people use e-versions of Bibles in their phones and other electronic devises these days. If you don’t have any of these, don’t worry—the Pastor will read the Scripture as well.
There may be a time during the service when the pastor invites people to come down the front to an altar for a special time of prayer. This is not required but should you desire someone to pray with you, you are always welcome.
Some Sundays we will partake in Communion. You don't have to be a member of the church to take part, but the pastor will generally ask whether you are a follower of Jesus Christ. This is a good time to evaluate where you are in your spiritual walk. Maybe you need to make a commitment to the Lord, and taking part in Communion may become this affirmation. Simply listen to the instructions given by the pastor and, as a confessed follower of Christ, you are welcome to participate.
